Safety & Trust
LocalGigs is built on the idea that local communities deserve a platform they can trust. Here is how we work to keep it that way.
How we protect our community
The safeguards built into LocalGigs from day one.
Verified Profiles
Users can verify their identity through our optional identity verification program. Verified badges give both sides of a gig confidence in who they are working with.
Transparent Listings
Every gig must include clear details about the work, compensation, and location. Vague or misleading listings are removed. What you see is what you get.
Private by Default
Your precise location is never shared publicly. We only show a general area until you choose to share more. Your contact details stay yours until you decide otherwise.
Community Reporting
Every listing and profile can be reported directly from the platform. Our team reviews every report and takes action on content that violates our guidelines.
Zero Tolerance for Scams
Fake listings, payment scams, and identity fraud result in immediate removal and a permanent ban. We act fast and we do not give second chances on serious violations.
Respectful Community
Harassment, discrimination, and abuse are never tolerated. We enforce our community guidelines consistently and take reports of harmful behaviour seriously.
Tips for staying safe
No platform can guarantee every interaction. Here is what you can do to protect yourself.
Meet in safe, public places
For your first meeting with a new person, choose a well-lit public space. Coffee shops, libraries, and co-working spaces are all good options.
Verify before you pay
Never send payment before confirming the work is real. Be cautious of anyone asking for payment via gift card, wire transfer, or cryptocurrency — these are common scam signals.
Keep communication on-platform
Use LocalGigs messaging for all coordination until you are confident in who you are working with. This gives you a record and makes it easier to report problems.
Trust your instincts
If something feels off — an offer that seems too good, pressure to decide quickly, or a request for unusual personal information — step back and report it.
Check for a verified badge
Verified users have completed identity verification. While verification is optional, it is a strong trust signal, especially for higher-value or in-person gigs.
Report a problem
Spot a suspicious listing, fake account, or inappropriate content? Use the report button on any listing or profile, or reach out to us directly. Every report is reviewed by a real person.
Contact our teamGet verified
Identity verification is optional, but it is one of the strongest trust signals on the platform. Verified users see higher engagement and build credibility faster with their local community.
